Functional and Optimal Lab Values

đź’‰Big fan of lab tests over here đź’‰

But here’s some things to think about when you are reviewing your lab values or getting blood work done âś…
1)Lab values are best interpreted in the context of your symptoms or lack of symptoms. Symptoms often precede abnormal you will see with blood testing and vice versa. Your case is a puzzle and nothing is going to be completely put together without one of the pieces.
2) The “within normal range” is based on the average population, not necessarily the healthiest. Different people feel better at different levels. Determining what is optimal, and optimal to you is important.
3) Pay attention to your trends overtime
4) As a rule of thumb be consistent with the timing of day that you get your blood tested.
5) Make note of your emotions while getting your blood drawn. Is it anxiety provoking? This could alter acute measurements in the lab values and help interpretation.
6) When testing your hormones the day of your cycle matters. Double check with your healthcare provided that you are testing on an effective date. It ALWAYS matters. Keep your own records of this.
