Egg Quality.

“Hey Girl, Nice eggs.”

“Thanks, I got them from my mama.”

You did, one thing you specifically you got from your mother is your mitochondria. Our Mitochondria are immensely important in all of our cells and body systems and play a vital role in our reproductive health and success. Through this post we are going to discuss things that can hinder your egg quality, therapeutic interventions and lifestyle changes that we can implement to support our egg quality. Allowing us to support a healthy, optimal, and successful conception and pregnancy. Furthermore, the research has shown that not only will your egg quality effect your daughters egg quality but even your granddaughters egg quality. SO COOL, right? Connection, matriarchy, nurture, feminism at its core, building one another up, generation after generation.

The Harmful:

  • Oxidative stress

  • Nicotine.

  • Adipose Tissue.

  • Toxins (Specifically those know as Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals).

  • Stress.

  • Fatty Acid imbalance.

  • Altered Blood Glucose (insulin issues and inflammation)

  • Advanced Glycation End Products

  • Age

  • Endocrine Disorders like PCOS and diabetes, Auto immune diseases, and Endometriosis

The Investigations

The investigations that are done to investigate egg quality include day three FSH, and day 3 estradiol, as well as AMH. However, taking a woman’s age into consideration is also a key factor. There is also imaging that can be done to investigate the number of follicles you have monthly, but not necessarily the quality.

Therapeutic Interventions: Each of the supplements below have evidence to support their individual uses in egg quality and/or efficacy in successful pregnancy outcomes. Speaking with your naturopathic or functional medical provider can help you chose what combo will work best for you.

Lifestyle

  • Exercise
